Recently Sony Notebooks come with Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 installed. The boot mode preferred for this installation is UEFI.
What can we do if we want to install Ubuntu on Sony Notebooks?
There are two options: You can either install Ubuntu for dual boot or install Ubuntu as single OS on your notebook.
For dual boot with windows, install Ubuntu and then make a switch of boot mode to load Windows and Ubuntu. Ubuntu installation doesn't change (in my case) the boot configuration for the different boot modes. Windows will boot from UEFI boot mode and Ubuntu will boot from Legacy mode. I tried these with 64-bit version of Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

All functions keys like volume control and brightness control work perfectly and the graphics switching key. Next button that work is web button.
The performance of Ubuntu can be compromised with these few keys functions.
